Hey I was wondering what I could do to make my nails look better. Such as I work with my hands and my hands are rough but I keep soft with lotions. My nails are often beat up and very rough looking. I have tried using nail strenghtener, but it does not work. Should I use a nail over my nail? I need help ladies. Thanks

Go get a manicure - it's totally acceptable. I often see men in the salon I go to. Girls appreciate guys with nice hands and well-kept nails.

However, do not get acrylic/fake nails. Only girls can get away with this. Also, with regular manicures you shouldn't need additional nail strengtheners or anything.

Hi, y

First use a fingernail file to shape your nails in a half moon. Never file wet nails because they are very weak when wet.

You can use any type of facial scrub on your hands it will exfoliate the skin and make it soft. The scrub will have little pebbles in it that feel like sand.

Another thing that you can use to exfoliate the hands and feet is a combination of sugar and honey. Put about a teaspoon of sugar and a table spoon of honey in the palm of your hand. Rub this into hands and feet if you like.

Remeber your cuticles which is the skin at the base of the nails, you should exfoliate this too. Just rub the mixture in for a few minutes then rinse in warm water.

Get a nail buffer and this is soft and it polish and shine your nails. The natural nail will shine for a week without adding any nail polish.

The next step is to add some cuticle oil, or you can use some olive oil, just rub it into your cuticles so they won't get dry and brittle.

Lastly, put on some lotion or vaseline. You can do this process once a week or every other week.

These are the item you need to purchase, you can find all these things at most stores like Walmart or Walgreens,
~ facial scrub (or sugar and honey)
~ fingernail file
~nail buffer
~cuticle oil (or use olive oil)
~ vaseline or lotion

All these items will cost you less than $10 total.

Now go show off those smooth hands. : )

The collagen found in most hair conditioners work well in strengthening the nails. Use an emery board to the nails to keep them growing and strong.

I wouldn't recommend using artificial nails over your natural nails because weakening is the result.

the best, least expensive exfolition can be done with BAKING SODA!! wash your hands, leave the lather on, then pour some in the palm of your hand; then, 'wash' your hands 2-3 times, and rinse with warm water, then apply a hand lotion...LOTS better than spending money on fancy stuff that does the same thing; you can buy a lot of good nailcare stuff, etc. with the money you save!!
