I was telling my friend since it tells a story though music during the entire album it is an opera. compared to dark side of the moon a concept album. He still insists that it is only an album and when i told him thats there is a movie about it he insisted it was an album. Can you tell where is he is coming from?

Yes, I do believe "the wall" is a rock opera. When Pink Floyd toured for it, they performed its music in much the same way you would expect an opera company to do a production.

I'd say its closer to a Rock opera like Tommy (the Who) or Quadraphenia (The Who), or say Hard Days Night (Beetles)
