He's only been in the job 5 minutes. If we are mediocre 18 months into his stewardship then that would be an appropriate time to consider a change. The media seem to be making up everybody's minds, as usual, yet they substantially undermine our society with sound bites, eye bites and bitter alcoholic meanderings. We will absolutely TONK Andy Pandy tomorrow (8-0, I reckon, but I'll settle for 5-0) and that will provide the improved psychological platform to face proper opposition.
Under normal circumstances a 0-0 in Israel would not be considered a bad result. Manchester United lost 3-0 in Haifa, but no-one called for Fergie's head, why? Because he has had the time to prove himself.
The real worry has to be the Croatia performance. We should have lost 5-0 we were that bad, but that was always going to be the hardest game and McClaren is on a steep learning curve.
I think the key question is, will he learn fast enough?
Personally, I think he will, and in three or four games time a lot of people will hypocritically be saying what a great manager he is.
Curbishley and Pearce were media darlings. Now they'll be lucky if the press & Sky sports don't see them off by May. It's rediculous.

hi, when the FA stop mixing politics with the sport then we might get a manager with some grit.the FA only choose yes men who are squeaky clean and will do as they are told.there is some lathargy in the england side, which needs a strong leader who can cope with the problem and can cope with the FA. mclaren was never right for the job as he has no grit we need someone to lead not be led

England supporters must be the world's most fickle (remember how they demanded that Keegen was made manager, and then demanded he was sacked?) and most deluded. I hear constantly that this manager or that manager would be best for the team (Stuart Pierce? Laughable) but they fail to take into account the fact that whoever takes over will be managing the same players and they are just not good enough. The argument that the influx of foreign players doesn't stand up to scrutiny as, barring 1966 (yawn!), England have won nothing. So they may sack McClaren, but who would replace him?

He should have never been taken on. we're still playing the lacklustre football from SVEN GOLLUM ERRICSONS and his preeeeesious beckam's era. If you are the Assitant manager of a team that isnt playing flowing football you dont do what the manager did in blind ingnorance. THe other thing that was worrying was that his real experiences were at middlesborough as well as being Fergusons assistant before his break. Being midtable with a team thats average in the premiership is not good enough to be in the top flight of football. ALhtough if he goes who's going to fill his boot's another foreign coach, or someone who has good sound tactical knowledge casue I cant see any england candidates who can do that. The nearest are Big Sam from bolton and Villa's manager and they have only had moderate sucess in the theatre of football

Depends what you mean by "fail". If they qualify and go out in the first round of the Euros, he'll stick around for a bit. If we fail to even make it to the finals, they'll get rid of him - this time last year we were being touted as potential World Cup winners (and despite playing poorly, we still made the quarters), if we couldn't now get out of a group where the best teams are Croatia and Russia (good teams but hardly world beaters) then that's some tremendous depths that we'd have sunk to.

FA better sack you and I than him. Why bother. Our England win never come to any success. Aggressive is a dangerous thing which we were not able to get rid off. So lets enjoy your lives.

McClaren should never have been chosen as England manager to begin with. He is just not qualified for it. His greatest claim to fame was getting stuffed at the UEFA cup final with a middlesbrough side that was never impresive and seemed to go more with luck than actual skill. Did any one REALLY expect him to have a positive impact? Trust svens assistant to take us in a different direction? ....in what world did that make sense?
so they should make things right and find a man that is trully qualified for the position and will make the changes the team desperately need.

They have to. They way too much talent not to go to the Euro Cup. It would be like Brazil not going to the next world cup. They are plenty of better mangers out there. McClaren was a assistant coach on a crappy Premier League team and on the National team. He has no experience in running a big time Team. SO FIRE HIM NOW!!!

I think they'll learn to respect their players...
What I mean is that in the national squad we have 80% of one of the best players in the planet and they can't even beat unexperienced teams like Israel, Macedonia etc...
Respecting the player for me means they need a coach who's also among the best in the planet as portugal have done. Let's remember in england there is no world class coach and the proof is that all the top clubs have foreigners.
Thanx!

It is the players fault they are too used to the high life and too full of themselves. If they were on a bonus for how they performed in a match they would not be half as rich. Hope they win though.
