I am playing in a 12-team rotisserie league. As an experiment I just drafted a team in a mixed league with a studly pitching staff including:
Chris Carpenter
Daisuke Matsuzaka
Dontrelle Willis
Billy Wagner
Jonathan Papelbon
Todd Jones
Brad Penny
Nate Robertson

Pretty deep, eh? Of course I did this at the expense of other areas, most notably OF which consists of the (I am almost embarrased to say):
Delmon Young
Coco Crisp
Moises Alou
Milton Bradley
Brian Giles

The guy that drafted Vladimir Guerrero needs pitching. What do you think of Daisuke? He is an unknown with HUGE upside but Vlad is a sure thing yes?

Is it true in Fantasy baseball, as it is in the MLB, that good pitching beats good hitting? Opinions welcome! Thanks!

If a dude will do that, go for it. Keep in mind that Vlad has very sketchy protection, so he's not going to bang 40+ HRs, but he's still a great average and power guy.

Dice-K is the great unknown this year. He's striking people out, had a low spring ERA, and has some games where he's walked more than a few.

I think early on he'll be Hideo Nomo, dominant. Once teams get film on him, they'll light him up some.

Make that trade!

Good pitching does often beat good hitting, but it totally depends on the number of catergoes and how they are weighted in your league.

I like have rock solid pitchers, and usually find it easier to replace hitting as the season wears on..

Well, if you get 3 or 4 good pitchers, you should be able to win the pitching categories every week, which in turn will boost you in the standings. Even with 3 or 4 good hitters, you still may lose in thos categories to a team with say, Pujols for example.

If he takes that trade awsome. Vlad is a potential 100 40 100 20 guy. (only guy better then that is soriano) And if your stuck with Alou and Crisp as OF you need some Definate help. (especially since your pretty decent in pitching) You may want to get another closer Jones is going to lose his job sooner rather then later to Zumaya.

Vlad is the most consistent fantasy baseballer in the MLB. Dice-K will win some games but his ERA will be eradic.

Grab Vlad for sure.

it is not undemanding to inquire from me because of the fact Vlad is definitely one of my in demand gamers and that i could do it in a 2nd. you want extra then 3 pitchers nonetheless. Who else do you intend on pitching for you?

If i had Vlad, i'd never trade him for an unknown pitcher like Matsuzaka. Don't waste your time trying to get him to do this......that is he won't do it if hes got any BRAINS!!!!
