I have a debit card. Sometimes I use it as a debit card to make purchases. Sometimes I use it as a credit card to make purchases (i.e. the transaction is treated as if it were a credit card, but when the transaction gets to my bank, the funds are withdrawn from my account -- I don't have a line of credit with the card). And I periodically stop by an ATM to get cash. I like to use cash for small purchases and certain other purchases (e.g. in restaurants). Also, I occasionally travel to Europe where cash is more necessary, and its usually best to get Euros or Pounds from an ATM.

you only use a debit card to pull out cash at an atm. alot of banks like wells fargo is also using that at the counter now. but thats taking money from your checking your savings is another story. i believe you must show two forms of id to take money from a teller from your savings. woops answered your question wrong a misunderstanding. umm yeah i use my debit card and slide it . nomore using cash got jacked too many times. plastic cant go far. one phone call and its all cancelled. ;)

I use my debit card, because it charges you every time you take cash out of an ATM.
