I'm a casual NBA fan, and I remember in 2004 the Timberwolves played the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
Why have they fallen since?

The key part of that team was the play of Sam I am and Spree with KG. After that year Sam was slowed by injuries and didn't have the same impact before leaving for the clippers and Spree was caught up on his contract since then turning down a good offer and then not being signed and is out of the NBA today.

Basically the T-wolves finally found a decent supporting cast for KG but that only lasted 1 year and the old players who where the supporting players continued to decline and the wolves never found the right combination since then.

Which is why KG is most likely going to opt out of his contract this year and go to either the Lakers or the Bulls, possibly even the heat

They have fallen for several reasons.

No consistency at coach. They had a pretty good coach, but sometimes players don't get along, or there are feuds with management. A coach needs several years to develop his team, and it seemed with all the problems in the office, they couldn't do that.

Sprewell. He was a pretty good player, and I think he still has talent, but he was a whiny ***** and refused to play another year.

The departure of Cassell had a lot to do with it. He partners with MVPs. That's just the way it is done. Look at Elton Brand's numbers after Cassell arrived. KG had a MVP caliber season when Cassell was there. The Wolves have flopped at point guard since then.

KG isn't very happy anymore. He's just buying his time until his contract is up, then another team will bid pretty high for him.

I do think of Cavaliers will beat the Celtic in the jap convention Finals and that Lakers will meet Rockets in the Western convention Finals. final 300 and sixty 5 days the Cavaliers sucked and the Celtics have been the terrific and Cavs took them to 7 video games. Now the Cavs are great and the Celtcs are great so i think of the Cavs could beat the Celtics and the Lakers could beat Houston which might lead as much as Cavaliers vs Lakers in the NBA Finals 2009. i think of the Cavaliers are extra advantageous than the Lakers. Cavaliers have great inderrated protection jointly as the Lakers have great inconsistent protection. i've got faith that the Cavaliers could beat the Lakers in a 7 interest sequence.

they sort of tanked. They should trade KG for a high draft pick. Get some new younger players, then they will be good in about 4 years
