The distance from (3,4) to (t,8) is 4radical 2. What is the value of t?

D = sqrt( (x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2 )

4sqrt(2) = sqrt( (8-4)^2 + (t - 3)^2 )

square both sides

32 = 16 + (t - 3)^2
16 = (t-3)^2
+/-4 = t-3
t = 7 or -1

you do 4 radical 2 = the square root of [(t-3) squared + (8-4) squared]
and solve it.
