They dont necessarily. Take each poem for its own merit. Some poets intermingle rhymes with free verses. Read The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock - the first poem of modernism in poetry. You will see what I mean. It's the content that enhances a poem - not the rhyme. Pax - C.

i wouldn't say they enhance it really
i think that the rhyming gives it a little more of flow and makes it song-like it's because of the rhyming that ENHANCES people's ability to remember it

not too sure wut you are trying to say here but i think it is b/c they make it sound more flowing instead of just words!
