Why do people have the survival instinct? I asked a question about why people fear death, and many people answered that it was human nature. So, whether you are a creationist or an evolutionist, why do you think it is humans are pre-installed with a will to live?

Humans cannot claim exclusive rights to this. It's not human nature, it's the nature of all life.

All life - be it bacteria, plant, animals, etc - has the built-in desire to further its own existence either by prolonging its own life or by passing on its genes to further generations. It's as simple as that.

simple evolution, in my oppinion.... at least, i'm pretty sure that this is why (did something kinda related for a science project)

you need to think pre-prehistoric here.... there were (and still are, actually) always different slight mutations taking place in humans... allow me to explain. let's say there are two cavemen, oog and grog. oog is perfectly normal, but grog was born with only one eye. because he has only one eye, he didn't see the sabertooth tiger coming up on his left and he died (...however, oog could see things like that coming, so he lived.) so, that was a bad muatation-- it didn't get passed on.

however, good mutations ARE passed on.... like having two arms instead of one? (we're being creative here) so, naturally, the strong willpower to live and survive was passed on.... those who didn't have it died. (makes sense)

....sry it was such a long explination. did it help answer your question?

It is the nature of all living things to preserve their own existence and that of their progeny.
