It's rare, but every woman is different so it's possible. Normally it doesn't so I wouldn't worry. I had an abortion as a teenager and today I have 4 healthy children. Now if you get multiple abortions, maybe so, but with just one, no it won't hurt your fertility. Good luck!

No I had an abortion and gave birth to a healthy 9lb 11 oz boy 2 years later. I also know one person who had 3 abortions and had a little girl 5 years after her last one.
There is a risk that you could have some scar tissue from the abortion but the risk is just as great as complications with pregnancy, and scar tissue alone will not make you infertile.

As a medical student and someone who has worked in an abortion clinic, I can tell you with confidence that abortions do not impair future fertility. Non-biased scientific studies have shown that a woman who has an abortion, rather than carrying the pregnancy to term, is 10 times less likely to die or suffer severe consequences such as infertility.
Your local abortion clinic or Planned Parenthood office would be able to discuss this with you more if you are worried. These sources are legitimate, and they will certainly be more honest, compassionate, and balanced than the opinions expressed on this site.

There is always a possibility that scar tissue could be formed and cause a problem in a future pregnancy. This is one reason many people should serious consider their options before having an abortion. Sometimes it won't cause infertility either but instead interfere with the pregnancy and end in a miscarriage. Then there are those(like most people) that one abortion does not affect at all.

yes it can cause infertility. My friend had an abortion 15 years ago and has been trying to conceive for the past nine years and no luck.. There is nothing wrong with her husband. The docs say it was from the abortion. It is rare that it causes infertility. But it can happen.

Yes, it can depending on how many abortions a person has.
Scar tissue grows each time the procedure is done when the body is healing, too many could cause scar tissue to grown on the ovaries and falopian tubes making it difficult for the egg to travel to the uterus.
I wouldn't use it as a permanent type of birth control but 1 should not cause infertility.

i would assume if anything went wrong then you would have a pretty hard chance to become pregnant. you can still produce eggs since they don't take out your ovaries or fallopian tubes but if there is scarring or something else from any abortion then there might be a possibility that the egg will never be able to implant into the uterus once fertilized.
my mom had an abortion go bad when she was young. they ripped her uterus and ended up with some bad scarring. they told her that it was highly likely she would never get pregnant and if she did it would be hard to carry full term. well she got pregnant a total of 4 times that i know of after that. first she had my brother, abortion(she and my father did not feel ready), misscarriage(they decided it was finally right but ended in sadness), then me.
theres always that risk of something going wrong. just weigh the pros and cons and you can make the decision you feel is right.

Darling I would not give you a lecture
although I have never had one but I understand that it most have been a hard decission for someone to make and beside it is your body only you can choose what it best for you
anyway if your abortion was done properly their should not be a problem
what you can do is if you have any problem conceiving check with your doc for an Ultra sound that way if damage was done because of it you will know
Goodluck & take care

It can affect your fertility. The baby is being forcefully sucked out of your uterus, so , it can scar your uterus making it hard for a baby to implant. Theres a small chance the fallopian tubes can be damaged also. I guess that's just the price you pay sometimes though. Hopefully ,that won't happen, I don't think that's very common(fallopian tube damage)

It very well could, but so could a full term pregnancy.
I have know several people who have had abortions and gone on to have happy healthy children.
I have know women who have not had abortions and who can't carry a baby full term or who could only have one because of complications.
You need to be true to your self and your future child/children. No matter what choice you make it will not be easy and there are risks either way.
