did you know Alpo uses horse meat in their products?? IT"S TRUE comment if you want but they really do BUTCHER inocent horses for their meat

I read up on it a little more it said that most horses they use are 2-10 years of age with no problems and are still young horses!!!! They are being killed for their meat!!!!

Unfortunately you are mostly right about horse slaughter. Horses do tend to be younger and healthier. Unfortunately kill buyers tend to place the highest bid at auction- a lot more than most rescue places want to pay. However, most horse meat is sold to an overseas market for people, where it is considered a delicacy. Some pet food producers do use it, but more tend to use chicken or pork as it is usually less expensive- especially chicken. As a long time horse lover, rider, instructor and trainer, I do think that it's sad to see our beloved friends being led to the slaughter, but if there were not some horses who were slaughtered each year there would be an over population of unwanted horses. In many ways it's not that different than cattle and beef farming, it's just different because most people don't form relationships with cattle like they do with a horse.

Horse meat actually costs too much for the average dog food producer. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Slaughter is not an inhumane process in the least bit. I suggest you do some unbiased research to learn the FACTS of horse slaughter and how the meat is really used.

Most horses used in dog food are almost if not already dead.They take the old and almost dead ,neglected horses. It is not as bad as you think.
