What does the different of...
Aniki=elder brother
Aniki=head of yakuza

I thought aniki mean older brother...but recently i watched Japanese drama they address head of yakuza as aniki as well...which one are the proper way of calling your older brother..is it... Aniki or onii-chan...

I'm trying to learn Japanese language bit by bit here......

Aniki in yakuza terms is not necessarily a "head". They call their close superior or boss as aniki. A top man of one yakuza family is called "kumi-cho". Children call their older bother "onii-chan" and normally, say 15 or older, call "aniki" or "nii-san". But girls hardly call their bother "aniki" but "onii-chan", "onii-san" or "nii-san". Aniki is a men's word.
