Because have u heard of the saying It's easier 2 give advice than 2 take it. We can be objective with someone situation because we r not involved. We give advice based on 1 person point of view an it is usally more people involved. We can enlighten, sympathize, and relate 2 each other problems an issues no matter, Race, Creed, Gender, Belief, Sexual orient, etc We r all humans with emotions trying i'll best 2 sort out the situation called life and boy! is it complicated. Last note I answer questions cause it takes my mind off my problems an my crazy life. It is nice 2 c I am not alone.

It's because, everybody wants to help other people as a whole, disregarding their own problems.
It is rewarding, uplifting, if you like that in one way or the other, we have helped the best we could.
Whatever we may have typed, whether to earn points,
or to climb the ladder/level, the main objective is to help.
Human nature, unpleasant at the majority of times, but the good in it always surfaces to the top.

Good questions.

We are too close to our own problems, and they overwhelm us. We see others' problems from a distance, and might see better how to help solve their problems. Remember, that we on answers.yahoo.com are only dispensing advice; we don't really see the whole picture of other people's lives!

Also, we have to beware that we're not trying to remove a speck from another person's eye when there's a big log in our own!

I guess its natural for humans to be teachers. We want to help people who do not have as much experience as us. So someone can have experience in work, relationship, etc and pass this on to someone but will fail to use their own advice when it applies to them. I think people are just unconsciously looking for a challenge to solve their own problems. You already know what they outcome will be so maybe their looking to try something new.

It's easier to give advice from the outside. When you're in the middle of some mess in your own life, it's MUCH more difficult to figure out how to proceed.

Ha Ha!!! I have thought about this myself. The best answer I can give you is this.

Easier said than done.
We're too lazy.
Life may suck, but it's comfortable.

I'm trying to change (lose weight) and honestly, I know all the weight loss answers, tips, and "secrets". I have my MBA. I feed two children and my husband healthy food. But for myself, I'll pig out and regret it. Ugh. I'm doing well right now, but geez, I know what you mean!!!

If your life is so tangled may be you should spend more time sorting it out rather than sat at your PC solving other peoples issues. Big XXX Hope you feel better soon.

Critism is a lot easier to give then recieve I have found... and I suppose we have an outsider opinion; with no loyalty, no flattery, no personal involvement. We see things as facts and not feelings I guess, so we can say things we couldn't in our own lives.

I wonder that sometimes, too. We can give so much great advice to the other people on this site, but we also need their assistance for our own problems.

I always feel compassion for other people and would move heaven and earth to help them. When it comes to me looking after me I can't do it. I can't give myself advice it makes me feel selfish. I feel as if I don't deserve any compassion from me and I can't take my own advice.

It is weird. My counsellor keeps trying to tell me to be kinder to myself, I just don't know how to do it.

:-)))
