Many of these celebrities like Oprah do quite a lot for various causes in the United States. Some of their activities in some of these other countries get more attention because those countries have more dire situations in terms of poverty and lack of opportunity.

because Africa have so many problems. Disease, water shortage, and killing all over the place. Africa is the mother of supply. Africa is the richest, other country's are trying to kill all the Africans with greed to take all of African riches. Ask yourself how can a place be so rich, but the people so poor. Can barely feed their family's. It is very corrupt, and Oprah just want to give the kids a better chance to educate themselves. Jay-z put water supply in some places, were the little girls could learn more about sanitizing. Hygiene value.

You need to look a little further into these people. Oprah and Madonna, have both helped out all over the world, including here in the U.S., yes they have done a lot to help some in Africa lately, and that is why you are probably only getting that information, but if you look further into their past you will see that they have helped here at home too.

The media only report the info on their contributions to this region of the world, because it is the largest humanitarian area of concern right now.

I think it because....well one, oprah is black, and i think she wants to raise awareness for issues within africa....kinda like giving back to her people ya know and as far as them both I think they realize how much Africa is in lack of...education and not to mention the aids epidemic. Not to say, Asian countries are not in need or less important....I guess a good way for u to see is....Think about.....Jessica Simpson and her endorsement deal with ProActive....(just because HIllary Duff isn't doing doesn't mean shes any less...its just who ProActive founders choose) and think about all those countless ads out there! There are other celebrities doing things for other countries a lotta times we dont hear about it!

because it's easier for an idividual to help, rather than a large organization. humanitarian aid is stolen by their army and officials sold on the black market, or kept by the theives. this is what keeps aficans poor ...their own government

No. I never wonder why they do it. I only think how generous they are with their time, money and hearts. I only wish I could do the same thing at their level.
