today i tried to breed my two leopard geckos. the male went over to the female and started to like sniff her and stuff. the female stayed pretty calm through all of this. but when the male got on top of her she freaked out and somehow the male grabbed onto her skin above her eye with his mouth. the female tried to get away from him but he kept biting her. finally he left her alone and there is this gigantic cut above her eye. like seriously, you can even see a tiny bit of the top of her eyeball. shes not like bleeding or anything, but should i get her some help or let it heal?

I would at the very least call the vet and I bet he would suggest you bring her in to get checked out and maybe be put on antibiotics. if you allow it to heal on its own it may heal crooked or during the healing process get infected in which case it will cost even more for an overnight stay when they pump antibiotics in her veins. it is part of the breeding process but not a very pretty one. when I breed my beardies. it is more violent than the worst territory battle I have ever seen. luckily there skin is alot tougher than a gecko or I probably wouldn't do it. ask people if there are ways to help reduce the possibility of this happening when you breed them. maybe a little gecko football helmet or something. just kidding hope that wasn't in bad taste I am sure you are worried about your girl just trying to cheer you up a little. oh ya meant to mention this earlier by not bleeding the risk of infection is even greater because none of the bacteria from his mouth was pushed back out by the flow of blood. so not bleeding is not always a good sign.

Take her to the vet. When leopard geckos breed they do bite each other so that was normal.

Yes, I would take her to the vet. She could lose the eye if it gets infected.
