Bush will probably veto any timeline bill put in front of him. So, in the name of 'politics', what will Congress wind up doing?

Congress need to quit using our Troops as political pawns. If they cared they would pass a bill without all the pork and without a time line.

If they did what they did on Viet Nam it will be the Iraqi people that will be left hanging. The defunding of the troops in Viet Nam led to the murder of millions in Laos, Cambodia and Viet Nam. I'm sure the President will veto the bill. This is done for political expediency by Congress. Giving a time line just emboldens Iran to keep sending operatives in and suicide bombers to keep going because they know that the Iraqi people may not be able to have all their military ready.

I think they will eventually cut the funding. Though I would at least wait a bit to see if this troop surge continues to pay some dividends. And hope that we actually start using some diplomacy in this situation and stop putting all the weight of this war on our military

I think many in Congress are trying to crawl out from under their own responsibility. The Congress chose to go to war. They can blame it on Bush all they want, but he doesn't have the power to declare war. To claim that he tricked them into it is to admit that they aren't qualified for the jobs they have. If you voted to go to war, you own it. As an American that agreed with the decision to go to war, I own it too.

They aren't going to pull funding because they know the American public will never forgive them. They are going to waste a lot of time and resources pretending to do something so that it looks like they are trying to end the war. What they don't seem to understand is that we want the war to end by WINNING. Congress needs to pull their heads out of the sand and understand that ending the war through WINNING is the only way to protect America and bring our troops home to safety.

If the spoiled brat in the Oval Office vetos the bill which represents what WE, THE PEOPLE have demanded, then the Congress will try to get a 2/3 majority vote to overide it. If they can't get enough votes, they will probably cut off funding for the war with a 60-120 day window.

That's what they were forced to do to end the Vietnam War. They simply stopped funding the war after 60 days. Funny how that can bring things to a screeching halt.

One way or the other, the war is going to end soon and, for sure, the "decider" can see his best days behind him. It is all over for him and his war-mongering cronies.

Now that the Democratic party is run by the extreme left, congress has to appease it's crazy base. That means end the war by all means necessary. Including leaving our troops and allies to dry.

Congress is doing the will of the people. If Bush vetos it he is going against the will of the majority. The Republican party will pay dearly in 2008. Landslide for the Democrats in Congress and the White Hous. Happy days will be here again.

The Dem's want the USA to back out like we did in Viet Nam and Somolia and other places. Rememer the Democrats started the Viet Nam with Kennedy and LBJ (used it to line his friends pockets) and Nixon had to get us out.

Congress isn't hanging our troops out to dry, they are trying to wring them out. Bush has already hung them out to dry, and their blood is on his hands. He already said he will veto anything that doesn't coincide with what he wants. Sounds like a Tsar to me, not the president of a democracy.

well, since it is divided pretty evenly

its going to be hard for them to override the president's veto

so they cant do anything until Bush is out of office.
Thank God
