I'm going to Disney World this September but I might only have 4 days to spend so I've to make sure I will use my time wisely. The flying time is 5 hours from California to Orlando plus 3 hours time difference, so totally I'll be missing 8 hours and I haven't even included the airport check-in time yet. My question is, when will be the best time to depart from Cali? I was thinking maybe the 11pm flight so by the time I arrived Orlando will be around 7am in the morning then I can start my day right away, but I'm not sure if I will be extremely tired already since I'm not sure if I can sleep on the plane for those short hours. Any good suggestions?

Pls do not answer if you are not serious about my question, thanks.

Since you only have four days, the flight from California can make your time seem a little shorter. You definitely should do the red eye, which would get you in nice and early in the morning, so you lose a minimum amount of time.

As far as whether or not you will be tired just depends on you, how old your are, etc. It is a long flight, with jet lag and things you may be tired, personally I've never had much problem with it and just continue on with the day and have a good time. You will have so much fun that you probably won't even realize you are tired, until you get home anyway ;-) But, some people do have a problem with it and have a hard time on the first day, and even for a few days in some cases, but if you are young you shouldn't have a problem.

I don't know if you will be able to sleep on the plane, but that will be the way to get the most out of your time. If you are flying commercially, it can be a little uncomfortable and harder to get to sleep, but if you can sleep, you won't be nearly as tired. On red eyes, a good majority of the plane is going to be sleeping, they lower the lights and everything and it is pretty quite, but it can still be hard to get to sleep.

If it were me, I would definitely do the read eye. Even though it isn't as conveneient as taking a regular flight, it will give you more time to enjoy the parks and stuff like that. The only other option would be to take a flight in the day before and then stay at a less expensive hotel, but I'm not sure if this an option or not.

As the other answer said, the hotel will work with you if you need to check in early and things like that. Just be sure you verify how they deal with those type things before booking the flight and then finding out they won't hold luggage and things like that.

Good luck! Have a great time on your trip!

I think that is a great idea. We actually have done that before! If you can sleep on the plane comfortably and you are certain you can, I would go for it. Then you can enjoy your vacation to the fullest without missing a thing! Plus it is a great time because if you live in L.A. there will not be much traffic and into Orlando there will not be much traffic. If for some reason you cannot sleep on the plane you are already there and can take a couple hour nap before the parks! Hope this helps!

I used to be a travel agent in So Cal. I would take a red-eye out cause you'll get in early the next am and your hotel wont start till that night. You can request and early check in or sometimes the hotels will just hold your luggage till check in time. That will give you your most time there. You can sleep on the plane. On your first day do the easier parks like Universal, or Disney MGM. Or you can have a rental car included and be on your own and keep your luggage till check in time. You can spruce up and a bathroom. Have FUN. Try Walt Disney World Vacations. Their really great.
