People will say the pistol star, but it in not observable. The pistol star in the star in the center of our galaxy, but the view is obstructed by clouds of dust (the milky way). The largest conventional stars are the red giants. One of which is easily observable with a pair of binoculars . That is Betelgeuse. It's the red twinkly one in Orion.

Whoever said the sun is the biggest star needs to take a bath with a toaster.

Check this out the largest known star is here by volume. Maybe the Brightest.

Looks like W CEPHEI is the largest known star. Approximately 288,194 times larger by volume compared to the earth.

This star is so big even if we were as far as Pluto from it as Pluto is from are sun we would be destroyed instantly.

We would have to be at least the distance of a couple of solar systems away to survive.
