OSU fans, they just reported today that alot of NBA scouts are saying that not only is Greg Oden most likely to be the #1 overall pick, but Mike Conley Jr. is most likely to be the first pointguard taken if he goes this year. On top of that you have Daequan Cook who despite his performance slipping a little is still projected to go late first round, early second. I mean its great that alot of OSU players are going to go to the NBA and probably do great things but i just wanted to know the positives and negatives of them coming and going so fast...

I know it was Acie Law but in interviews today they said that Conley is expected to be the first point taken.Remember that in the NBA they draft on what they expect you can become, not on how you play, and as dumb as that sounds thats how its usually done.

I am sure when Thad Motta recruited those players, he knew there was a chance one or more of them would go pro after one year. It means that when you get this type of talent, you have to win now or else. I would assume Motta has a few prospects waiting to see what Oden and Conley do in order to determine which school they are attending for next season.

The goal for college basketball is to form players that can play at the next level. If you got a school that has players that are being drafted at the top is a good thing, it's the same as having great doctors graduate at a school. OSU should be proud to have some of their players being drafted at the top it is not a curse it is an achievement.

It depends on the talents attitude and behavior. Sometimes it can be a curse or a blessing. If he calm and play game well and cause no trouble, thats a blessing to have him. If he is constantly in trouble with the law or have bad sportmanship like conduct it could be a curse because you dont know when he is gonna get in trouble. For example, the curse can be during the championship game, the guy decided to get into with the law before the championship and can jepoardize your team's chances of winning. You get what im trying to say. For college it can be a curse because all your best players might go to the draft which will lead the coach to figure out who is going to the star.

Conley is expected to go as a lottery pick but the first expected point guard in this years draft is Acie Law

Positives of entering the NBA is they are not shortening their basketball careers as a professional but are entering as soon as they can to not miss out on a single minute.

yes, it does appear to be an imediate negative for the school, because they are loosing key players that have exceptional talent. On the other hand, it can act to allure many high school prospects whose ultimate goal is to reach the nba, when they see how quickly this school broadcasted their talents. Basically, yes it is a negative for OSU to loose oden and others, but it will raise the level for future OSU players
