During the holidays there were many questions posted here about how Christmas has gotten so commercialize and way out of control as far as the quantitiy of gifts rec'd. Now Easter is coming and my daughter in law is all about what to buy the kids. She has already purchased 4 gifts for the little one and wants to get more. She even asked us what we were getting and made a few suggestions. I feel this is ridiculous. What do presents have to do with Easter? What happend to just getting a nice new outfit and maybe a chocolate bunny and going to church?

like other christian holidays being commercialized easter for many people has lost it's true meaning which is christ----prayer---community spirit-----family---this needs to be in ones self everyday we need to be the best we can be every day

I agree with you. Easter is getting overrated and all that matters to the children is the easter bunnies that hops around and hands out chocolate easter eggs with praline filling (yum!).

Well, I guess the meaning of Easter is more important compared the commercial means. By the way, there's no such thing like Easter egg back in post-Crucifixion time right?

if you let it get out of control then it will
we do baskets for our own children
grandparents now send $ but not a lot...just enought to enjoy a movie with friends
when they were little the grandparents did a beanie baby and easter necklace or something else not too expensive and a little candy
mostly we do the family time together and dinner...that is the best part and main attraction for us

buying a new outfit and chocolate bunny is itself commercialized. All holidays will continue to be commercialized. look at Valentines day, Independance day, st. pattys day, halloween, christmas, thanksgiving. etc
