So there's a princess and a Queen living in a castle.

The Princess has a pet lion.

The Princess drops an important document in a room and LOCKS the door behind her to prevent the lion from getting in an destroying the documents.

Later, the Queen opens the door and forgets to relock it.

The Lion gets in an rips up the documents.

Who is to blame? aka who should clean up this mess

Hmm, I suppose if you wanted to cast blame, the queen for forgetting to relock the door, only if she knew if was locked in the first place.
However, a thing called an Accident needs to be taken into consideration :) Does anyone "mean" for an accident to take place? The whole thing could be construed as an accident and on one is truly to blame because there wasn't a malicious or negligent intent behind the action. :)

I blame the princess for leaving a lion wandering around loose in the first place. Pets are a big responsibity. Just ask Billy Madison. Pax - C.

Castles are not very secure places for keeping important documents. They're only good for keeping damsels in and marauders out.

I blame the princess for not having a locking file cabinet and for not making copies.

its the queens fault, but its kinda the princesses fault too because she shouldn't have important documents laying around somewhere. who should clean up... well if there is a queen and princess there has to be servants so there's your answer.

Since it is the Queens castle, then she can do whatever she wants. Too bad for the Princess.
