I try to help someone out at least once a week by giving them with a ride somewhere or just visiting with them or helping them with even the littlest of tasks.Do you think I will become a better person by doing this?

Yes, I do. Ever seen the movie, Pay It Forward? It's a great flick about doing something great for a complete stranger, and then telling them to pass it on to someone else... It really makes a difference to that person, and it inspires them to do it for someone else as well, plus you feel great about yourself...And if you believe in Karma, this is really great for ya...cuz you'll get paid back for it somehow...

Interesting question. Ask yourself why you want to do this? To become a better person or because you want to help others? Wanting to help others makes you a better person but doing it because you think it's means to change yourself without regards to others will not. If you find some satisifaction in helping others with doing what you are doing, yes, that makes you a better person and what the world today needs more of!

Sure you will. Though you cannot repair things done in the past, you can help yourself become better. However, the change will come gradually. Just because you did something good once, doesn't mean you are a better person all together. But if you do it continualy, and make it a regular thing, you will be become a better person.

Of course! Doing a good deed is an improvement for your self worth. It helps you become patient, especially the smallest of tasks, it moves you away from being self absorbed! On top of all that, the person may show appreciation to you and you might get a friend.

Of course, but to me it seems as if you're still counting the things that you will do to help a person out. That means you are putting limatations on good deeds.

Just do things for people when you can do them and you will be blessed. It will happen when you lease expect.

People who always look for something back will never understand their misfortunes until they understand that htey need to soften their hearts.

Deep inside we know what kind of person we are. Doing good deeds is admirable IF you are doing them because you genuinely CARE. If you look around to see if other's are noticing or if you tell other's to see how great you are....well, this is really self-serving for 'looks' sake, Not good. People pick up on this and know the truth...we are all a little psychic. We can't hide who we really are. To do kind things because it comes from your heart, that's totally great, really! I'll say that if this is coming from that place...fanTASTIC!!

It's good to be a good person all the time. Opening doors, etc. and going the extra mile. I was wondering why you where concerned about being a better person. Is your self-esteem ok? Sounds to me like you are a very nice person.

No. The fact that you are already doing this shows that you are already a bloody good person. Don't worry about bettering yourself, just be happy that you are in the top 1% of people out there already!
