How exactly does the NBA Lottery work? Does it affect the draft?

the NBA lottery takes all the teams that didn't make the playoffs and gives them a shot at any of the top 3 picks

the worst team has more ping pong balls ten the 2nd worse team and so on all the way down the line. Then once the top 3 picks are selected out of the lottery bound teams (14 this year) the remaining 11 teams will be ordered in the lottery based on record. So the worstteam in the league can only drop as low as having the 4th pick if they miss out on the lottery altogether.

Teams involved in trades lottery protect their picks and top 3 protect their picks for this purpose. You might see some good teams with picks in the lottery but that's only because of past trades where they are taking over the rights for one of the lottery teams.

The 13th and 14th worse teams only have about a 1% chance of moving up in the draft to a top 3 pick but each team has a chance. The worst team has about a 25% chance and then it drops down to 20% and so on.

Why difference anything simply since it does not figure out on your group. Last 12 months Portland received the worst select feasible that they might have received, and no person used to be bitching approximately it right here. The lottery is risk, and it made that manner, so groups do not pass out and lose video games on cause (Boston) so they are able to get the primary select. I believe the lottery is a well procedure, if something, each group (even the Champs) could have a shot at the number 1 select.

its a lottery of all the teams in the NBA.... the worst teams get the most balls but into the lottery, giving them the chance for the number 1 pick.... the champions get the least number in the lottery but could actually get a 1 pick... it has everything to do with the order of the draft.... its not like he NFL where worst team automatically gets 1st pick
