I am just asking because this season at least 11 teams should this year (7 in the west and 4 in the east).

10 teams in 03-04 is the most that I found. I only checked since 1990, but I think that that will probobly be the record because of the rule change in giving points for reaching overtime.
That year had Phili, NJ, Detroit, Boston, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancuver, Colorado, San Jose and Tampa.
ON EDIT: I checked since 1970, and confirmed ten is the record. I was working my way back further, then I realized I was looking at when there was only 14 teams in the league, so it would be impossible to have 10 teams with 100 points. Anyhow, you're right, the record should be broken this year.

This year is that a record will be set. By the end of the season 12 teams will have reached 100 points.

Well, 10 in 03-04 but, 3 point games are new, so it would make a HUGE difference so i would probaly say that 03-04 season would win that one becuase if we did not have 3 point games then many teams would not have an 100+ point season!!!!!

Put an asterisk beside it anyway because 3 point games are new. Teams never used to get a point for losing.
