If we paid 1/2 of what we paid for bombs towards getting food water and services to the millions that need it, not only would we be helping those that need it, we would also be contesting the negative ideas and ideology of extremists. Had we stuck with small special ops along Afghan boarder and not moved into Iraq so quickly and ill prepared, we would have caught "the people that knocked those buildings down". Had we diverted the financial and personnel resources to supporting humanitarian relief around the globe, we would have undermined the extremists’ message. Iraq and other campaigns these days are all about gaining control and power when they should be controlled ways to empower the indigenous people; improving their life instead of disabling and validating the extremists’ campaign. Typically, people that need the help the most are those that don’t know or understand what is going on elsewhere – but they do know things where they are could be better.
