My sister is getting color contacts and she has darkish brown eyes but she wants to know if she should put them before or after makeup......She's not blind or anything and needs no vision correcting so should she put them before or after applying makeup?

if your sister wears eyeliner & mascara, then she should put them in before,
i wear contacts myself, and ive tried it both ways, if you put them in after, your eyeliner and mascara smears everywhere, and if you put them in before, the powder doesnt get in your eyes as long as your careful.

I have worn contacts for years and I always put my contacts in before putting on my makeup. I also learned a trick from my eye doctor to help stop the burning that some people feel when putting their contacts in, which can come from the cleanser or inproper care. Before putting in your contact, position the contact on your finger, and fill with one or two drops of SALINE SOLUTION!!! Do not use a no rub solution or a cleaner, use a SALINE ONLY SOLUTION! This helps to flush out anything that might cause burning, or micro-particles which might be uncomfortable, when inserting your contacts. Because i use this method, i have to put my makeup on after i insert my contacts, to avoid streaking. Either way, it doesn't really matter when she puts her contacts in, as long as she washes her hands throughly before inserting the contacts, and as long as she keeps them clean. If something were to get in her eye and irritate the eye after the contacts are in, simply remove the contact(s), rinse and reinsert!!
Hope that helps!!

She should put contacts in BEFORE applying makeup. Here are some extra tips I found too.
* Avoid lash-extending mascara. It contains fibers that can irritate the eyes.
* Avoid waterproof mascara. It can't be removed easily and may stain contacts.
* Remove lenses before removing makeup.
* Use hairspray before putting on your contacts. If you use hairspray while you have your contacts on, close your eyes during spraying and leave them closed for a few seconds afterwards. Walk away from the area where you sprayed.
* Blink your eyes frequently while under a hair dryer or while using a blow dryer. This will help distribute tears in your eyes and keep your eyes from getting too dry.

AFTER! I wear contacts myself, and after I put my contacts in, when my eyes become adjuested the contact solution comes out of my eye, like i'm crying. So if she apply's eyeliner, tell her to wait until the area she puts eyeliner on is compeltly dry, otherwise your eyeliner smears, this should only take a few seconds. Hope it helps!

Those contracts would have to be magical before I'd volunteer to wear them! Speaking as someone who has used contact from necessity, put them in about thirty minutes before so your eyes have time to stop screaming.

AFTER...beacause if not all the powder will get into her contacts and that is no good..and tell her to make sure she washes her hands really well before putting them on

I usually put mine in before I put on makeup. That way, my contacts do not come in contact with makeup if they happen to fall or graze my eyelids (mascara, eyeshadow...they can destroy your contacts and cause an infection!)

always put contacts in before putting on make up. putting in contacts after will smudge make up and it can transfer from your hands to the contacts and irritate the eye

If she can see she should do it after because she'd get less makeup in them.
