A few reasons:
1) Women and men aren't all that different after all. Women "can" be just as predatory.
2) It's being reported more often.
3) The news of it spreads farther and faster than ever before.
4) Our current culture promotes the concept that nothing is "immoral."
So, this kind of behavior does not strike her as wrong until handcuffs are slapped on her.

If a male teacher makes advances towards a female student, he is usually considered a dirty old pervert by the student and reported. Most of the time he will lose his job and face criminal charges. If a female teacher makes advances towards a male student (provided she's somewhat attractive), the male student considers himself lucky, as do his friends. She is usually not reported until a parent somehow finds out and blows the whistle. If you'll notice, none of those male students turned in the teacher. It was always someone else. The media has learned that this is a sure way to boost ratings and now they pounce on these types of stories, thus we're seeing more of them.

Because it's in the news more and more. I doubt that it happens more than male teachers predating on female (or male) students. It's like "shark attacks," every now and then the press will report on shark attacks more than usual, (slow news summer?), making it seem like it is happening more than usual, when shark attacks remain the same year to year. I think it is something that has always happened, it is just being brought to our attention more and more. And this is a good thing, the more awareness the public has about ANY form of child abuse, the more likely it is that measures will be put in place to prevent it. The first thing to do would be to make sure these women get the same sentence as male offenders.
And "locksmitite"--"girls gone wild" is FEMINIST!!?? Lol, That's news to me. That garbage is about as far from "feminist" as you can get, I assure you.

I think it's because A) it's more newsworthy, and B) people's attitudes on the subject are changing. When people heard stories about this in the past, they'd think "lucky kid" or "I wish I had a teacher like that!" But now women who are sexual predators are more likely to be looked at as what they really are.
EDIT: by newsworthy, I mean it's because that's the opposite of what you'd expect, with a female predator and male victim. "Man bites dog" gets more headlines than "Dog bites man".

The media covers it more as a way to hype their ratings. 40 years ago we wouldn't have heard about it because it would've been kept really hushed by the families involved. Today everyone wants their 15 seconds of fame, even if it means ruining your child's life. Which is really kind of sad. Now, I'm not saying that one shouldn't get the police involved if this happens to their child, but there are ways to keep the media out of the involvement due to the age of the child.
Also, I think the internet as a way to interact with those around us has allowed there to be a greater possibility of evidence in such cases.

We are seeing more of this because it is becoming more public. I am sure it has been going on just as long as male teachers have been sleeping with their female students.

If a male teacher rapes a student, he's busted. Finally the same is true for women. It's about time the media gave it the attention deserves. But check out the discrepancy in jail sentences.

How many are you referring too? I still believe the number of male teachers, priests, boy scout leaders, sports coaches, professors, etc. have a far greater percentage of sex crimes against others than female teachers. So why are we focusing on this particular group? Perhaps you should examine your own twisted motives and report back to us what these underlying factors might be.

because our society has been feminized and sexualized to the point where nothing is outrageous anymore.
oprah, talk shows, MTV, the view, lifetime for women, girls gone wild, and all other feminist dominated television have drilled it into women's heads that they have no moral boundaries and that they "deserve" whatever they want. tv has made it "hip" for women to become sluts and sleep with anyone they desire.

I think its become politically correct to say "See, women rape little boys too" Even if some of those "little boys" are physically larger than the woman.
The news always reports the oddity, not the ordinary.
I can recall maybe four cases of women with underage boys.
That is hardly a more-and-more situation. Or a "so many" condemnation.
