what type of bands would be something that sounds like any of these? But that isn't completely mainstream?

Madina Lake, I Am Ghost, Armor for Sleep...idk what you consider mainstream...there's My Chemical Romance, Atreyu, From First to Last, Underoath...You could try going to Yahoo! Music and searching for one of the artists you like. When it comes up with the artist's page, there is a tab on the left side that will say "Similar Artists". Click on that and you can choose more or less mainstream and can listen to samples.

The Academy Is..., Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, and Say Anything. Anything from the record company Fueled By Ramen, they have some mainstream bands but i think a lot of them aren't really mainstream yet.
