i would really like to get more active in the community, like sports, arts and crafts, etc. the church i go to isn't into all that stuff, and i have 2 small kids i may have to worry about finding sitters for.....

Check with your local chamber of commerce and recreation district or rec center, also check with the schools they can give you a list of events sponsored by the schools. These are good places to start and they maybe able to point you in other directions as well.

Joanns and Michaels both have classes for adults and children. Hobby Lobby does too. In addition, counties usually offer sports for the community.

Try going online and typing in the cityname.com or go to yahoo and search events in your city.
