The number in your bra size is the measurement of the band, the letter size represents the cup. Since most women wear the wrong bra size, rather than guessing about your size - either get measured at your local department store, or measure yourself - here are some instructions - http://www.barenecessities.com/fit_sizing.asp

Measure over your breasts- that number is the Number part
then measure the fullest part of your chest, subtract the two numbers. If the difference is 1-A, 2-B, 3-C, etc.
For example, if you measure first and its 34 and the second one is 36, you're a 34 B.

Okay:
If it's too tight underneath the breasts, you go up a number, because the number = width.
If the cups are too small you go up a letter, because the letter = cup size.

You should go to Victoria Secret, or any department store, and have them measure you. I used to work for a lingerie department, even if you don't buy, you should have someone else measure you for accuracy. And then, when you buy a new bra, get one that fits on the last hook, because bras stretch out, and you'll need to be able to take it in. :)

If your getting that "back fat" then you need to go up a number. If you feel like you are spilling out of the cups and nit getting full coverage then its the letter

If it's too tight around the ribcage, go up a number. If your boobs are bursting out of the cups, go up a letter.

Well normally..............you measure yourself. Get a JCpenny's catalog and somewhere in it, it should explain to you how to measure yourself and how to figure out what size you are.

You measure by inches and find the column/row you match up with.
