This is usually because the cable that connects the monitor to the computer is loose. Make sure it is plugged in tight to both the monitor and computer. The cable may also be damaged.

Below are some links to some help, depending on if it is LCD or CRT.

If I understand this correctly, the color red does not work on the computer. If this is a laptop, you will need to take it to a tech to look at it.

If it's a desktop, this can be caused by one of several things. The first thing to do is ensure that the monitor cable is hooked up correctly. If it is, then check the components.

The easiest way to check everything is to plug a different monitor into the computer. (If the monitor cable can be unplugged at both ends, make sure that you use a different one.) If it works OK, then you know that the problem with the monitor, not the computer. If it doesnt work, you will probably need to purchase and install a new video card.

If it does work, though, that means that either your monitor or your video cable is bad. Try plugging your monitor into a different computer (again, if possible, use a different cable). If it works, then you dont need a new monitor. But if the monitor still doesnt work correclty after hooking it to a different PC, you need to replace it (you can get a single color gun replaced, but usually costs more than a new monitor). If the monitor is still under warranty, the manufacturer will fix it - but in my experience, it takes several months.

If the computer and the monitor both work when hooked to different systems, you will just need to replace the cable. You can pick one up at any office supply store that sells computer peripherials for under $15.00.
