In the UK the longest running TV show is The Sky A Night first broadcast 50 years ago next month and still going. As a serial/soap its Coronation Street first broadcast on Friday December 9, 1960.

Do you mean the longest running TV series? If so, that's Gunsmoke, which ran from 1955-1975 and aired 633 episodes.

I believe that MASH was the longest running TV series. That is in the US. In the UK, I think Corontion Street or EastEnders may beat it for longevity.

The Simpsons. It's been on the air since the 80's. Also, Doctor Who. That show has been airing since the 1960's!

I'd say it's "The guiding light"....It's a daily-soap,not exactly a series,but it's been on air for a very long time (think it started in the 50's,on the radio)...
