my friend brought up a good point stating that going under the knife just to be the opposite sex very wrong. she said that if God wanted you to be someone of your opposite sex, He would have created you that way.--and that the transexual's parents will be very dissapointed since they probably like you better the way you were born, taking the time naming you[ect.] Then i defended the trans. by saying "it makes them happy." so she responded with "people will murder innocent people, steal a million dollars from a bank, and may even destroy the world trade center to make themselves happy, but it doesnt make it right" so, my question to you is,

Is being a transexual unGodly/wrong?

its simply you may be castrated , but you are not the wrong sex. that is mental illness. there is more to gender than just feeling like a female, everyone of your cells says male. you are what you are, sorry your sick but tough get over it

OK. Your friend did NOT bring up a good point. She drew parallels between transsexuality and murdering people, grand theft and terrorism. Instead, she was being ignorant and melodramatic. As for the God thing, how does that apply to being born with Down syndrome, or being born with six fingers like Marie Antoinette? Did God want that to happen as well? Either accidents happen, or accidents don't happen. In that case perhaps he wanted someone to be born Transsexual. As for the parents, yes they do get upset, and the mother (in MtoF and FtoM) tends to take it VERY personally.
And the whole thing about gender and god constantly reminds me of how boys would be castrated to retain their young voices for choirs like the Vienna Boys Choir at one time, because of how prestigious it was. And that was just for their voices. The conflict a transsexual goes through is enormous. They are only doing it to keep from (yes I said keep from)going insane due to the conflict of their emotions versus the feedback they get from their body. It's also not some sexual perversion because it typically manifests at the age of 4-6 years old, AND continues to persist even after the hormones which pretty much kill any sexual desire and function.
And taking the steps to alleviate the pressure in a world that is so hostile, even deadly to them?
In short, no. Being a transsexual is not wrong. Being a transsexual is trying to carve out one's place in the world where they can finally be at peace and not be noticed.

I think your friend is totally wrong. I am a male to female transexual and had my surgery quite a few years ago.I am getting older in life ( 59 ) now and have never been happier. All through my life I was miserable and upset, but for the last 14 years I have been happy and love everyone where before I used to fight them. I was told by my Doctors that in their opinion I should never have been born male. I have never had to shave my legs, arms or body because I never grew any hair there. ( ooooh what a dream for a woman not to lay in the bath doing her legs lol ). The reason I was told by the Doctors, and please dont quote me on this because I dont know if it is true or not. The reason is because when you are born you have your chromosomes and a woman is xy and a man xx, when you are developing in the womb one of them gets damaged and the male foetus ends up with one of the x's made into a y because one of the things are broken off. Thats all I know. But I have a little thing I made up myself if you dont mind and I dont want any bible bashers slagging me off. When God made man, She made a mistake, when she made woman she achieved perfection, that is why I changed my sex. Just to follow Gods wishes to be perfect.

This is a tricky subject. The thing is Gender Idenity Disorder is when people truly feel as if they are in the wrong body. It is genetic, but also more common in this society than any in the world (we stress masculine/fem more than any). It seems that people just don't feel like they should be that sex. Surgery fixes this most of the time. its not like plastic surgery where they want more and more, or want to switch back and forth.

I don't know if its ungodly, thats not my area. But it is not wrong. There are a lot of things that god 'made us' and we change them.

I don't think it's unGodly wrong. I think that God makes mistakes sometimes and ends up putting someone in the wrong gender.

Just be the best person you can be and that is not wrong. If you know being a transsexual is right for you ,go for it. Long after your friend? is gone you will still have to live with you. Don't live with regret.

I'm a transsexual and I don't think I'm "wrong". Actually I think I"m more "with it' than most of the people I meet.

God created you if you believe. Forget what others say you are who you feel and be what you can they way you feel is right. No human can put you on the right track including myself! Do what YOU feel God wants! Peace and love!

Absolutely not, if the body doesn't match the soul, wouldn't it be "wrong" to NOT fix the body to match the soul?

A body is simply a vessel, it's your soul that carries your true self. If your soul is one gender but your body another, just imagine in pain you'd be living with.

I believe what ever you want to do is between you and YOUR GOD.
It is not wrong, it's creative and sexy.
It's what makes the world turn go round.
