Uh Keith Urban is from Australia I think. Does he sound like a hillbilly?

Most do have accents though. But its also the way the big producers want it and they'll enhance it in the studio with pronunciation and they way they sing. I doubt if there will ever be a country singer that goes "cherio old chap, I have horse doo on me bloody boots"

But you know what? On some of the country sounding songs the Beatles and the stones did, They copped that accent pretty well. Listen to The stones "Let It Bleed "album or Ringo sing "Act naturally" or "I don't want to spoil the party"

No Tessa....country and western style is sung through out the world now, just like hip-hop is...some of the best come from Canada (like Shania Twain)......some of the most beautiful music and lyrics ever written have come from C&W songs and not all of those songs were written by people from Tennessee...

Some singers have accents and others don't. I would say that all of the singers who have accents are real accents, not affect.

It is my understanding that Nashville is the business mecca of the C&W industry and maybe this is why your friend thought of Tennessee.

It depends on where theyre from and where they live now. Rascal Flatts for example, Joe Don is a southern boy from oklahoma and he has a great southern accent. But Gary Levox and Jay Demarcus are from Ohio and have lived in Nashville since the 90's and they have a pretty good southern accent. They're not faking the accent, they just started talkin that way cause they've been southern folk for so long now.

No. Not all country singers have accents. Some are just paid to have an accent. I guess it just goes with the act.

Not all are from TN; Tim Mcgraw is from Lousiana. Faith Hill is from Mississippi, Keith Urban is from Australia, Shania Twain is from Canada. Can you fake an accent if you want? I can.
