Britain was probably the smallest country that expanded and
controlled most of Asia during Queen victoria's reign it was said that "the sun never sets on the British empire" In the 1930s japan was short of natural resources, and invaded china. and then Asia. post war japan has been the most successful although china has now been modernising and will soon
be a major contender in the worlds marketplace.

Peter is very wrong. The only Asiatic properties held by the US in 1900 were the Philippine Islands -- an enormous imperial mistake, and set for independence in 1945; and Guam in the Marianas. If we hadn't bought the Philippines and then suppressed their independence movements, ...well, who knows, but the Japanese might never have felt the need to attack Pearl Harbor.

The US never had any interest in China, except for the protection of its citizens, most of them goddamned missionaries. US gunboats were indeed deployed on inland rivers for that purpose, but only because there was no effective central government that could contain bandit warlords.

first the U.S. had a huge growth into the pacific and asia during the early 1900's
next, the US took almost every island in the pacific but they only owned a sphere of influance in china
Last, the japs and chinese did the same thing by shouting out the us but the japs used millitary force
or did you mean the 1800's and european countries conquests
