Google web searching is a free service; Simply visit my source link and type in the persons name, ideally with a few key terms.
For example, if I wanted to check up on a certain Jane Doe who lived in Notown, Nostate, USA? I'd go to google and type in the following in the search engine:
"Jane Doe" +Notown +Nostate
And I'd over time replace some of my +'d search queries with different aspects about Jane like her job or other places she's lived, to see and make sure I'm actually getting info on MY Jane, and not some other similarly named/placed/employed person.
But what you're asking seems to be more of a 'background check', rather than just 'Googling' someone. It's quite possible to check up on someone for little to no cost. If they've made claims about their work or university background, most of those institutions will give out that information to interested parties; You'd be surprised how much info you can get just by claiming to be a representative from a charity or reward-providing service.
That is, naturally, at tad immoral by some standards, and the person in question you're checking up on might object.
You should instead perhaps consider:
A) Why do I not trust this person?
B) How well justified am I in these thoughts?
C) Could there be other outside influences making me doubt this person?
D) What steps, if any, can be taken to fix this lack of trust between myself and this person?
If those questions you ask yourself, or my own advice for that matter, doesn't help? I'd suggest seeking a professional investigator for a full and quite legitimate background check.
Go to google.com, and type in the name of your own state, followed by "Obtaining Criminal History Information". If you live in the state of Florida, for example, you'd type in this:
+Florida +Obtaining Criminal History Information
That should ideally give you a website with a .gov (as opposed to a .org or .com) ending, and a list for your State's approved methods for obtaining background checks for criminal behavior.
It's quite possible that your local police station may be able to provide additional services for little to no cost.

If by google you mean stalk then I can't really help you. I looked up the definition of google in my Merriam-Webster Dictionary but I didn't find anything and the closest definition I could come up with from context is to stalk. So I'm going to say go to this website, it looks good.

IF you want to google, just use http://www.google.com
But are you really thinking about meeting with a total stranger. Didn't your mother tell you "Don't Talk To Strangers"? Did you want to become a "Missing Person" and have posters of you shown all over town? Did you really want to be a victim.
Find real references on this person. Talk to these references and check the facts on them too. Use the telephone and internet to look for conflicting facts about the references as well as your "someone".
Good luck and be safe. (or watch some more Law & Order SVU)

you will need to do a background check. but there is NO WAY to do this free. they started charging for this about 10 years ago.
http://www.google.com/search?&q=background%2Bcheck
be very careful here. they might quote you a cheap price and drastically raise the price later after they get you hooked. you might be better off using a local private detective.
