Hi Guys!
My family is moving into our first house this week! And I wanted your opinion on my theme ideas for my 3 1/2 year old son's bedroom. My son, Jason has a speech deveolpment problem so he can't really talk to me to tell me what he wants!I want to you to remember back to when you were 9-12 years old. What kind of room would you like to bring your friends into. Any suggestions or ideas would be great!

Room one: A Zoo Theme. He loves the Croc Hunter & Animals.

Room Two: Nemo: This can be changed to a underwater theme later on. We can put a 29 gallon fish tank with saltwater fish into his room too.

Room three: Cars, You know the movie "CARS" This can be changed to Nascar later on too.

Give me your own ideas and design ideas.
Thanks,
Jennifer
Mama to Jason 3 1/2

Zoo theme, though i am a girl, i have and had tons of guy friends and think that that would be THE COOLEST! plus, he could learn a bit about animals and respecting them etc., great for child devolpment....

Personally, I'd prefer the underwater theme out of all three of them. Truth is, most children's rooms don't have a theme attatched to them, so I remember that I enjoyed any room that had some type of theme..I'm a girl, so I can't exactly say what a boy would like, but I remember getting impressed with any room that was vibrant, colorful, and fun to be in.
It's most important to get something that your son would like also, and that he would enjoy, even though he's only 3 1/2 years old. Don't base your decision on his opinion 100% though, since he is still 3 1/2 years old, and is going to have his room (i'm guessing) until he's much older.
What you could do is get an image of about what his room would look like, and ask him, "Wouldn't you like that!?" If he responds negatively, then he's probably not going to get too excited about his new room.

Another suggestion is that you fix his room in a way that is easily changeable. I mean, paint the walls something more neutral, and then include removable accessories to create your theme. I'm saying this so that you can make his room more "adult", in case he doesn't like it when he's older..
For example, if you'd like to go with the aquarium scene, don't get super-expensive furniture with a carved in nemo, and Finding Nemo wallpaper..Instead, paint his walls two shades of blue, get white furniture, and get a cool Finding Nemo lamp, and other little accessories like that..

Personally I like your car Idea
heres some stuff
go to the Disney store and pick up some pillows that are themed by cars the movie and a comforter and some blankets get the cars wallpaper (Lightning MacQueen) paint the room a red color to match all the stuff by a few stuffed toys. if your not on a tight budget put in lamited flooring wow i would be so excited if i was a toddler "my room hasn't been updated for like 6 years" but its an adult type room also this is pretty cool they sell lampshades and also they sell those wicked talking cars Lightning MacQueen.

Also I like the Nemo theme here some ideas

-Buy a dark blue paint. and Nemo wall paper
-buy the pillows bedspreads toys ( you can get these all from your local Disney store)
-get a fish tank and put some cool clown fish in it also put in a fish that looks like Dorey and a star fish too!
buy a new Night Stand and put the fish aquarium on it.
they also sell the rugs and they have nemo on it =)

also try a spiderman theme when hes older you can turn it into a skatepark theme cause of the colors suck as red and black would go into it

ps: Good Luck
Sincerely preteen Brandon MacDonald!

hehe pick me as best answer=)
please and thank you!

hope your toddler LOVES his room!

i agree with the people who said not to do a specific theme. a child could love nemo and two weeks later be scared to death of fish of somethimg like that. i've seen this issue on that home makeover show many times. they give a 6 year old a pony themed room, but what happens when she turns 11. she won't like it anymore, but she's stuck with it. i think just pulling in a few colors like blue and green or yellow, red and orange leaves the doors wide open for change and growth.

ROOM TWO!!! You can get a light blue pait, paint the walls, and get a darker blue, a few shades darker, and put that wave design (~~~~~~~~) across the walls about a foot down from the ceiling, all around the room. Then in the tank, you can get the fish from the "Fishtank Gang": http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:JyuTSzZ8wNhB5M:http://www.firstanimationart.com/sitebuilder/images/G078-NEMO_TankGangPaper-600x468.jpg . You should make his bed like this: http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:1Hd6aqRuYiprWM:http://images.auctions.overstock.com/aimages/d/0/3/198/31988123_1.jpg .

It would also be cool if you painted maybe a rock and painted the little pidgeons that always say "mine!" on the rock, or perched on the window.

You could also always find lots of nemo furniture and do something like: http://allforsims.simshost.com/images/disney_store/room_sets/afsn_nemo_set.gif

Good luck!

None of those are good for an 9-12 year old....Three, yeah...Preteen NO! Go with like a colourful easy feeling room, like bright colours. OR! Sports are good. sports are really good, like Soccer, or Football. my brothers 11, and he loves sports. Sports is porbaly your best bet.

I would go with one of the first two because their cute but fairly easy to change of develop/redo once your child gets older.

I think you should have a colour theme. You know, something he won't grow out of in a couple years.
Blue is cool.
