Birth Control is controlled doses of various hormones. The various birth controls give different doses of different hormones. It sounds like your body does not deal well with the hormones that are being given to you. The doctors are switching you to a different birth control medication to see if that particular one will work instead.

First of all, I am so sorry your going threw this. My daughter who is just 12 years old started having problems with her period (she started having them when she was 9). Her period once lasted 6 months, it was light but it was there and stopped her from doing a bunch of activites. I took her to her doctor and she perscribed the bc patch. It has been a wonderful blessing. I don't know what bc you are on now or tried in the past. Maybe you can check with your doc about it.

I knew a girl that this happened to, she was using the birth control shot, so I don't know what form you use, but she just quit using the shot and it got back to normal.

It sounds like PCOS (PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome) which can cause you to bleed for weeks or not bleed for months. It;s not easy to diagnose but ask your OBGYN about it and see. There are things that can be done to help.
