I just got DSL and I can't run it... There is nothing on their website either. Is there a patch or something I can download?

You can run the at&t dsl on vista, but the the software they use right now is not compatable with vista, so do not go and download the software. If your having problems getting it connected call at&t and they can walk you thru the registration and getting it set up. I work there and do this daily. Do not use the installation cd that you have that came with the modem you were sent.

You do not need the ATT yahoo software to use ATT DSL. As soon as you connect the cable from the DSL modem to your Ethernet port, your computer should use DSL to connect to the Internet.

To get the latest version, download your software from
http://att.software.yahoo.com/ysftc/p/att/v2/welcome

DO NOT INSTALL
AT&T Yahoo! Browser: It messes up IE7 and is not needed.
Yahoo Music Jukebox: Just another online music store.

The ATT Yahoo Software contains:
AT&T Yahoo! Browser (Do not install)
AT&T Yahoo! Messenger (Optional)
AT&T Yahoo! Music Jukebox (Do not install)
AT&T Yahoo! Online Protection (Virus and spyware protection) (Install)
Parental Controls (Optional)
Pop-Up Blocker with Yahoo Toolbar (Optional)
AT&T Yahoo! Dial Connection Manager (Install)

Set your browser home page to:
http://dsl.sbc.yahoo.com/
or
http://www.yahoo.com/

Open IE7 "internet options" then "programs tab" then "manage add-ons" disable if installed the following add-ons:
YahooBridge Class Fog Creek Software YahooBridgeLib.dll
WXcom Class Yahoo! Inc. yupdctr.exe
Yahoo Services Yahoo! Inc. yiesrvc.dll
Yahoo IE Services Button Yahoo! Inc. yiesrvc.dll

These 4 Yahoo add-ons slow IE and can cause it to crash. You will need to enable the first two of them if you later try to reinstall ATT - Yahoo software using:
http://att.software.yahoo.com/ysftc/p/att/v2/welcome

The spyware protection in ATT yahoo protection suite is not full time spyware protection. Normally I would recommend you install Windows Defender (free full time spyware protection), but it is should be already installed with Vista.

---------------------------------------------------------

Install the following five programs and run weekly or at least monthly. You need all five. They are not a substitute for full time spyware and virus protection. They work well with the ATT protection suite and greatly improve your protection.

Ad-Aware SE Personal (update + full scan)

Spybot Search & Destroy (update + immunize + scan)
Do not enable Tea Timer and SDHelper
After installation: update + scan + immunize

SpywareBlaster: Update then open and click “enable all protection”.

SUPERAntiSpyware free version: (update + scan)

CCleaner: Do not install toolbar and recycle bin options
Set to run when computer starts.
Removes tracking cookies, unneeded files
Place cookies you want to keep in the save list.

Note if a scan detects a problem but is unable to remove, start the computer in safe mode with the internet line disconnected and run a full scan.
