Maybe because blacks where FORCIBLY taken kicking and screaming from europe while white Americans came willingly for the most part. Some blacks who can trace their heritage to African care about it because it is their motherland and their history is there. Others don't 'care' about africa because they no longer see the connection - as Africans and africanamericans are so different now. The same goes for people who can specifically trace their European heritage - some Italian-americans care about italy others dont really.
The people who 'care' about Africa i think are compassionate and cant imagine sitting back while the continent is in crisis. Africa has been torn apart by while settlements and rule and some people care. It's not just black people lots of people care about Africa because its where scientist believe humanity started and has some of the greatest history and artifacts there. Plus it has animals etc not seen in other places in the world.
By the way the person who wrote about "Black Africans are the decendants of the tribes that defeated and enslaved the weaker blacks that were sold into slavery in this country. " is competely uneducated and full of crap. Maybe he should take a course in africanamerican studies. The enslaved africans werent the weakest and it is a common misconception that europeans battled 'tribes' (which by the way they were african NATIONS NOT TRIBES) -- they would give one group of people guns and weapons and the other group would hear of this and want to trade (to keep up with the other group), but the whites would make them trade slaves instead. The africans at the time have slavery but their slavery was VASTLY different -- their slaves were members of the family because in africa whoever had the biggest family was in a sense in control. They assumed their slaves who be treated the same way, as members of the family.
Reading any history book past what you learned in elementary school will tell you that.
Also, the africans today who come to america are the riches of the bunch and to say that black americans are spoiled is gross and unbelievable when we are fighting just to give our kids a good education and get them away from people who think like that.

Because blacks are a minority in America and not in Africa, which makes them more attracted and sympathetic to Africa, because it will always be their country and will never give them the minority label.
Whites in America are not a minority so they really don't care. However, I'm willing to bet a lot of whites living in Africa do give "half a sh-t" about America and/or Europe. Hope that helped :-) :-) :-)

Actually, I know a lot of white people who travel to the countries of their ethnicities. Especially the Irish.
Interestingly, I'm half black and half East Indian, and I'm far more interested in going to India than I am in going to Africa.

I think it's because they have a full belly, a nice car, a house and the CURSE of having to think that they came from KINGS and QUEENS of a great heritage. It's all a big lie, but that never stopped them from their fantasies, much like little girls want to be fairy princess'.
Blacks who actually come from Africa are TOTALLY befuddled by blacks from america. That's why when they come here they have a lot of problems dealing with black americans. They also are more educated and tend to want to become productive members of the society they've adopted. Black Africans are the decendants of the tribes that defeated and enslaved the weaker blacks that were sold into slavery in this country. We didn't get the cream of the crop and blacks in this country know that, so they PRETEND they are "strong black women" and "strong black men" or KINGS and QUEENS. It's laughable.
My decendants came from Germany, and I have absolutley NO loyalty or curiosity about Germany. *** a country that can't provide people with a decent living or freedom. The USA is the BEST.

You haven't been to Boston on St Pats Day - everyone with the slightest green blood goes nuts.
How about New York on Columbus Day?
Chinese and Persian New Year just passed, and I saw a few blue eyed people at their celebrations.
BTW, you should care about Africa too - we live in a global economy these days.

Actually, that is the home of our grandfathers. And many blacks, including me, find that Africa is a great place to rep.
So because whites don`t care about Europe, us blacks aren`t supposed to care about Africa??

Well maybe because that's where they come from, Black Americans were taken from their land. Whites generally came here freely. However, I don't think that they all care about Africa since they are American.

I could seriously care less about Africa. The only thing that makes me think about countries in Africa is the extreme poverty and poor living conditions, but I think about countries like that that aren't in Africa. Oh and I definitely don't call myself African American. I'm Jamaican, Irish and Indian and since no one can tell that by looking at me, I'm fine with calling myself black.

You are so wrong that it's not even funny. Do you think that I, as an Irish-American, haven't shed even one tear over the violence which Northern Ireland has faced? Really, the better question is, "Why don't MORE people care about Africa?" Any person with a healthy heart and mind will care about other people, especially if he realizes that they share a cmmon heritage.

If your family had a strong heritage from a Euro country, you'd feel a sense of belonging with that country. Some AFRICAN-American people had strong African heritage, and just because "whites" do something, it doesn't mean everybody has to.
