i usually dont and i wear a lot- 2 rings, bracelet, neck less, earings, toe ring. if you dont want anything to get lost in the drain then i advise you to take it off. a few years ago i lost my crosslett ring at my cousins house in the shower. but i got a new one :)

Not necessarily, the water may help keep some of the jewelry clean. And it won't hurt it if it is real. Fake stuff could rust!
