I live in a state that passed one of those stupid bans on gay marriage. I didn't exactly put my heart and soul into opposing it, but I did canvass and did some polling work etc. Many others worked their butts off against this attack on gay folks and their families. The bottom line is we are all threatened by this draconian amendment to our state constitution.

Many of my "friends" and neighbors voted for this travesty, even though most of them know I am gay and opposed the amendment.

Now I should continue to serve in local organizations like the Lions and support other communtity efforts of "good will" when such was never extended to me or others like me at the ballot box ?

Call it sour grapes if you like, but I can't be warm and fuzzy towards these people any more.

I can undertsand your not wanting to participate in the community efforts after the ban was passed! But if you're doing things from the heart, you shouldn't let this change that! The best thing you can do is let them see you as out & proud, & let them see that you are a productive member of society. You never know that seeing you may change someone's opinion. Be a positive rolemodel, just as you have been, that alone can make a difference! Best of luck to you!

I think you should go right down to your local biker bar and give them an earfull of exactly what you think of their beliefs and values. That'll show em.

yes and you should be open about being a gay so people can't say anything like 'gay people are lazy' or we don't do anything for our communities
