I am 17 years old, my mom walked out on me when I was 15. I want to get my Colorado state I.D card but I lost my social security card and I can't get another one unless I have a Colorado State I.D no one in my family can get custody of me and my mom is the only one who can get my Social Security card but I don't no how to get a hold of her so how do I go about getting my social on my own?

If you remember the social security number it will be helpful. But you will need a copy of your birth certificate. Call ahead to see if you need anything else.

You should have had a SS card long before now. You can't do much of anything in this country without it.
Go to the post office and get an application, fill it out and send it in. I had one when I was 14 years old which was 35 years ago.

I don't believe you have to have your mom there to get your ss card, just 2 forms of ID www.socialsecurity.gov

call down to ss office tell them you lost it and need a new one have them mail you the form then mail it back
only thing is you may have to put your moms name on it as if she were requesting it thats how i got mine in illinois
