What about trying a tinted moisturizer with some SPF (that blocks out harmful UV rays). Sephora or Clinique should have some good ones.
Also, maybe a mineral make-up, like bare minerals or neutrogena. Both give light coverage and also have SPF and are powder, not liquid so they are very sheer.
Now if you are talking about eyeshadows and blush and lipstick - go as natural and sheer as you can...it's whats in now and since you are young and tan you could definately pull it off. Also, try watching Carmandy on TLC's What Not to Wear - she gives GREAT advice for the natural look and how to apply it.
If your mom is worried that you don't know what to do, look around your area for a make-up consultant that will give you (and your mom) age-appropriate advice and could probably get a starter pack that you and your mom agree on for you.

Hi, well no your mom is right!
Beautiful skin is healthy skin that can breathe so if you are going to use foundation for your face, use a water based one, to avoid acne breakouts after.
All brands are ok, you must try the testers, and not on the back of your hand, your complexion is not the same. Bring a humid facecloth with you in a Ziploc bag and some Q-tips to apply. Try patches on your cheek to get the closest colour to your complexion.
Try to use only on special occasions and do not forget to blend past your chin bone to avoid that dark line around the face "clown face".
Good luck, and less is always better :D

im sure your mom is right but if a little makeup makes you feel more beautiful then why not wear it right? try mac they for the foundation because they have alot more colours for tanned skin tones.with your tanned skin a gold eye shadow would look stunning on you with a thin line of black eye liner and mascara to bring out your eyes. keep your lip natural by applying a nude or pale pink lip gloss

The Best ever. To get a natural look, for your dark skin, get a brown that's a little darker than your skin tone and just apply to crease of your eye and BLEND. then a little mascara.
Most mom's want to take their daughters to Clinique to start their beauty treatments and washes b/c it's so cheap yet efficient, but Clinique is Full of alcohol. That isn't great for young or aging skin.

Loose Lips New York- mineral foundation in dark or medium beige. Cheeks pink. Bronzer can also look nice. Lip gloss in blastoff, miracle or equinox. Lip gel in believe or starlite is nice too. I can send you samples on the foundation and bronzer. Take a look.

haha. your mom is right. no one NEEDS makeup but everyone wants it just to look extra specially beautiful. I think you should try M.A.C. makeup or Benefit makeup. They are my two favorites and i only wear them and lancome. Lancome could be a good resource, too. Let me know if it works out.

just go get some almay simple shade, all you have to know is if you're light medium or dark it comes out white but then it will automatically match your skin tone, it's so light it feels like moisturizer and the best part is you don't have to worry about matching!

You may listen to your mom's advise, she is just like my mom but I do not listen to her at all. Try the dark orange color, it may works for the color of your skin.
