because people are naive and have no idea about Hitler and the Nazis. If they indeed had a clue, then they wouldn't be trying to compare Bush to them. I wouldn't worry about it.

See, like I said, people give me a thumbs down for something they know nothing about.

To Givoni...If you knew a bit about history you would know that Bush hasn't used any tactics to protect against an enemy that past presidents haven't used. You would really think Lincoln was nazi like if he were president. He put people like the ones that leaked secret info that work for the New York times in a kind of concentration camp! And rightly so! This isn't a game at least not to our enemy. It always amazes me that some find their own country as the one that is evil. Poor mistreated terrorists lol

You are correct in your observations. Those who play that word association game are hoping that the moronic masses will somehow subconsciously store the connection and the next time they hear the word "Bush" they will see a goose stepping madman gassing millions of innocent victims. But when someone tries to associate Saddam with Hitler, which is a valid comparison, they cry foul.

Hell, Saddam couldn't have been a bad person. He and Dan Rather are best buds.

Edit: Afterbirth: I like that photo too, but probably for a different reason than what the tinfoil hat who created that page intended.

Because people think that putting two men in the same sentence links them and that they have common goals. The connotations of Hitler's Reichstag destroying the vast majority of Europe gets used when referring to Bush because he is often seen as the modern day equivalent.

Why are people so stupid?

ETA: I just clicked on the link above me, I really liked the "if you don't come to democracy, democracy will come to you" image.
ETA2: go BoonieTech! Theres the answer you're looking for. And you're right, although it was spun for a different purpose its still a poignant thought.

Sorry to inform you, but Nazism is not a form of socialist government. It is a Nationalistic and racist government that is for corporate and centralized control of the government. Right-wing totalitarianism has typically supported and enforced the private ownership of industrial wealth, much like the GOP and in particular, the neo-cons like Bush advocate. Right-wing totalitarian regimes (particularly the Nazis) have arisen in relatively advanced societies, relying on the support of traditional economic elites to attain power. In contrast, left-wing totalitarian regimes have arisen in relatively undeveloped countries through the unleashing of revolutionary violence and terror. Such violence and terror are also the primary tools of right-wing totalitarian regimes to maintain compliance with authority. Nazism refers to the totalitarian Fascist ideology and policies espoused and practiced by Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist German Worker's Party from 1920-1945. Nazism stressed the superiority of the Aryan, its destiny as the Master Race to rule the world over other races, and a violent hatred of Jews, which it blamed for all of the problems of Germany. This sounds very familiar, except cons blame liberals and immigrants for all the problems of the U.S. Fascism is also much more right wing. The fascists of Italy were influenced by some very right wing philosophers who basically wrote their manifesto:
George Sorel (1847-1922), for example, was a French social philosopher who had a major influence upon Mussolini. Sorel believed that societies naturally became decadent and disorganized, and this inevitable decay could only be delayed by the leadership of idealists who were willing to use violence to obtain power. His anti-democratic, anti-liberal views and pessimistic view about the natural life-cycle of a society were antithetical to most of his contemporaries.
I hear the GOP claiming our culture is decadent all the time.

You see, you can just trace the GOP, the southern mentality, back to Nazism and fascism very easily. I mean come on, the KKK was more linked to the GOP than the Democrats in more recent history. And, they still are: Jesse Helms, Strom Thurmond, and Trent Lott. Yes, I know Jesse Helms doesn't serve anymore and Thurmond is dead. But Lott is still in power and to the ideas of the plantation society.

Those who do are don't understand who hitler was and all they are doing is trying to make the most emtional impact they can.

Those with blind hate for Bush and can't see reason anymore are the ones who say those kind of things.

The actual meaning of words has no relevance to Libs.

All they see is "good" and "bad."

"Unsustainable" for example is bad.

So they say "the market economy is unsustainable."

And they don't feel embarrassed by the fact that collectivists have been saying that since the economy was 1/1,000th its present size.....

The people who call Bush that wouldn't recognize a real Nazi if he snuck up behind them and tickled them with a rolling pin.
