I am sorry to be pedantic, but circles and ovals are 2d shapes.
The universe certainly is not like that!
The general assumption would be that of a sphere, the edge being that of the radiation generated by the big bang.
Inside this shape, space/ time is malleable. Never forget that space is distorted by matter.

The knowable Universe is a sphere 40 billion lightyears in radius. Beyond that is a considerable amount of additional Universe that probably has different physics somewhere way outside this sphere. The overall shape, if it has one, is unknown.

The universe has no shape, it is still expanding and growing. One would assume in an oval/circle shape away from its central core but no one can be certain for we have yet to reach its outer perimeter.

No one is really sure, but some theorize that it's shaped like a bell, a horn, and the last I've heard, a donut.

WMAP results reveal that the local topology is quite flat.
But is it really flat as a whole, if we could snapshot a picture of the whole thing? Who knows.
We know it's going to expand forever, though.
