Do they view it as an intimidation to their own masculinity or what? Or is it that they always show the "femme lesbian" (although I think most of them aren't even real lesbians) in porn and that's what guys view as "sexy"? I just don't get it.
Also, why are straight men homophobic towards gay men, but they're ok with two lesbians together? I mean if you're gonna be homophobic shouldn't you be homophobic and not selectively homophobic?

That isn't too hard. Femme lesbians are girls, are women, look interesting, look approachable. Butches are aggressive, rude, or generally unappealing.
If Rosie weren't gay, she might as well be (and some men feel this is why she is a lesbian in the first place)--because she couldn't get a date.
Ellen D and her previous lover, however, are different. She smiles, she pleases, she is fun, she is kind. She is the kind that males could be interested in, if only she were interested in males.
What is so hard to figure?

Actually it is simply this: no straight man believes deep down in his heart that any really good looking girl would ever be completely lesbian because [1] they are hot [2] they can get sex from any guy they want [3] straight guys would love to get sex from any woman they wanted as much as they could therefore these girls must like guys somewhat because they can get them and get sex. Butch girls do not have the same options so they are believable as lesbians. Gay men it is believed are men in all respects except all their sexual energy is focused towards guys which means they are thinking of guys and sex with guys almost all the time since straight men are thinking of girls and sex with girls almost all the time.
May sound shallow but that is the basic rationale behind the thinking. As for 2 hot lesbians with each other, the belief is that the guy is going to be invited to join in, which makes it great. Someone had a question here a few months back about the why guys like 2 lesbians together but not 2 guys and I gave a similar answer.

i guess they figure that if the chick is femme..they might have a chance with them..
usually st8 men think that all gay men are interested..and some arent comfortable enough with their sexuallity to be around gay men..so they just push gay men away...not to mention they dont like whats different.
for men..seeing gay men is weird..but lesbians make them horny so they chose to be selective
