My little brother wants to do a plant project and he's in 4th grade but he rather do a 5th, I want to find him a 5th grade level project. Are there any good plant science projects for my little brother? I would really appreciate if you be specific, I've been looking all day and yesterday to find a project since tomorrow my little brother has to bring in the problem statement and his hypothesis. Thank you for your help!

I did a science fair project in 5th grade that involved plants and it won. While I don't remember the specifics, I do remember that I was testing the effect of pH on plant growth. I became interested in this because of acid rain. Basically, which pH water is more effective for plants: pH 1, pH3, pH5, pH7 (neutral), pH9, pH11. So I took pea seads and radish seeds and planted them into 6 different pots. Essentially I had 6 pea plants and 6 radish plants.

Water each of them with the required pH and measure their growth weekly.

Some of my plants didn't grow, I would actually plant about 5 of each plant for each pH. So you would have 5 pea plants for pH1, 5 pea plants for pH3, etc. and do the same for radish.

How did I get water with each pH you ask? I went to the chemistry teacher at the local high school and he helped me make up a gallon of water for each pH. He also loaned me a cylindrical beaker (can't remember the name of it) so that I could measure out the water equally.

If your mother has any houseplants, especially Swedish Ivy, have him remove a branch or shoot, put it in a Dixie Cup or any small portable container that can be filled with water and have him explain that a new plant can grow from this shoot by "rooting" it. Have him tell the class that you just wait for 2-3 weeks (sometimes longer depending on the species) for the shoot to grow roots and then you carefully transplant it in a container with potting soil and eventually it will grow as big as the mother plant. Also, while it's rooting, it can't be in direct sunlight or be given any fertilizer; both will kill it.

you both could find out the height of the three plants every day. one plant will be fed with water and sunshine. another plant with only water and the last plant with only sunshine.

record the differences. make sure you only do this for only up to 3 days.
hope this helps.

there is not any such element as 7.fifty the 0 on the top is irrelevant in a decimal equipment till you're conversing approximately money or measurements if the unit of length is concentrated (jointly with £7.50) then it particularly is obvious yet whilst that is not concentrated then you definately can anticipate 7.5 the .5 merely potential 0.5 of a few thing besides.
