Its called gimp. From girlscouts, right? That's where I learned it... But its definitely gimp... Those were so in a while back!

I think that gimp is what it is really called but if you go into your local arts and crafts stores and ask for lanyard they will send you to the right section. You can buy small sections of it or you can purchase spools of it. You can also get kits that will show you how to do the different stitches or make things like animal key chains out of it and beads. Or you can purchase the lanyard and get a book on all of the different stitches. I tried to look online for you to find some good web pages, however I think the directions make it sound/look more difficult than they really are, so see if you can find a book to atleast look at to get an idea of what you want to do. The most common ones are box stitch and stairway stitch. Good luck, this can be alot of fun.

Hi,
we call them Scoubidous .. for around $2 you can buy a bag of 100 1 meter multi coloured plastic laces at the cheap as chips shops (probably spotlight etc) ... Easy enough to get the hang of making (my 6 year old can do)
keyrings, friendship bracelets, pony bracelets etc ..
I have an intstruction sheet happy to copy and post if not included in your packet of strings

its is called gimp. kids use it at camp sometimes. there a re tons of cool colors and different designs and patterns
