I noticed my rats like to drop from the bed, so I tossed one of them onto a pillow, gently. She ran back and waited for me to pick her up and do it again. Even my other rat, who is usually antisocial, loves being thrown as well, and even goes psycho after a particularly hair raising ride. And when thrown together, they wrestle each other once they land. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever done this, and makes me suspect that maybe rats do have a sense of fun, and that they are thrill seekers?

I guess if they don't like it they'll gnaw off your toes while you sleep.

I guess it depends. If you are letting them drop from a foot or so and onto a pillow, I don't see a lot of harm in it. I wouldn't ever "throw" my rats though, even if they liked it. They are fragile and don't always know whats best for them. I'd also probably stick to one at a time, as it will reduce your risk for an accident.
There are lots of other ways to play with your rats though, that don't risk harming them.

You don't throw them! Their fragile, they get scared easily.No matter how much they want you to do it again then don't listen to them because an accedent might happen, like you might have so much fun throwing them on the bed that you might throw them a little higher and they might fall on the floor and might break a paw or leg.

as long as they have a soft and safe place to land and you are just gently tossing them then yes it is alright. my oldest male likes to jump off the dresser onto the bed which is a good three and a half feet away and down about a foot. my youngest likes to be tossed.

sounds OK as long as they act OK afterwards. I have never done it myself though. I might try it.
And to those who said rays are gross, they are not! They are cool! They just have a bad rep.
